Moving over to a cloud server essentially means your business is hosted on the internet, rather than on an in-house server. Internal servers come with their own set of problems, and usually require an extensive IT department to keep things ticking over and to come to the rescue should any crises occur.

Chip says that when you add the cost of these services to EC2's base price, the annual expenses are much closer, if not even a little higher, than using a typical managed desktop company like Independence IT.

It is also essential to make sure that the operator keeps all the latest software with him. There is no point in approaching a professional who keeps outdated equipment and old-fashioned technology. It is important to remember that technology in this field gets outdated quickly. One kind of technology released in the market that a competitor launches is a more potent version of the same equipment. That is why before going with a good platform people should make sure that the professional has all the best equipment with him. The operator should also have plenty of knowledge to recommend the user on his technology needs.



In a small business where is very unlikely for more than one person to be working on a document, "cloud computing" may be a very realistic alternative to expensive servers, or click here rented server services. In our office, everybody owns their document, and changes are sent as a separate document to prevent sync errors when two people have made changes to the central document. The answer here is going to be a "change key" so that when you re-sync with the cloud, a window will show any changes posted by other people since your last sync. If you are the owner of the doc then you can approve them. Otherwise, each upload would have to be a version change and this could drive the document owner nuts.

Dedicated hosting is more expensive than shared hosting but is still inexpensive enough that an average business can easily afford the monthly charges.

Considering the "cheapest" of the "cheapest" is always the way that people looking for but when it comes to long term evaluation "cheapest" would be really cheap not more than a headache. Spending a couple of green bucks will come back to you as your facilitators which will get you on your feet again.
